Dancers

In-Sight is proud to work with and support a talented group of dancers.  They are committed to creating inspiring works of art, and serving their community through dance and community outreach.


Lina Kent

Lina Kent was born and raised in New York, and received her dance training at Ballet Hispanico where she danced for the Jr. Ensemble. She attended Dean College for Dance, and while in school performed with Pioneer Valley Ballet, along with Dean’s own ballet company. Since leaving school she has performed as a guest artist in Washington D.C. and danced with New American Youth Ballet. Lina would like to thank her friends and family for their support, and is thrilled to be an In-Sight dancer for a second season!

Cody Potter

Cody Potter is a graduate of the Studio Program at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy. He has performed multiple times with Haberdasher Theater Company(Actor/Director), Axis Theater Company (Ass. Director), KidStuff kids show (actor), “Footloose” (Actor Off Off Broadway), and most recently with “Fred” directed by the brilliant Ashley Kelly Tata. This is his first all dance show and is so excited to share this experience with all the friends and family who have supported/pushed/worked out with him. “Thank you guys for making sure i knew this was a possibility, love you much!”  Cody continues to volunteer and work with In-Sight Dance Company.



Hsing-Hua Wang – Guest Artist

In-Sight Dance Company is delighted to have Hsing-Hua Wang as a guest artist.  Hsing-Hua hails from Taiwain where she received training at the National Taiwan University of Arts.  She has appeared with the National Ballet of Taipei as a guest artist in a production in cooperation with Guangzhou Ballet Company entitled “a Night of China and Taiwan Cross-Century Ballet Culture Exchange,” which was performed at Sun Yi Sen Memorial Hall and toured Taiwan.  She has also performed as a soloist with the National Association of Dance Malaysia, and as a principal dancer with Capital Ballet Taipei.  She performed with the Tapei Ballet Company in “Die Kameliendame” for the festival at the National Theatre of Auckland in New Zleand, and in the company’s production of “Tchaikovsky-None but Lonely Heart”.  She has also appeared with the Dortmund Theater of Germany.  Recently she has performed in New York City at City Center in Natalya Stavro’s ballet “Paguita” and with Ballet for Young Audiences in the Nutcracker.  Hsing-Hua  continues to volunteer and work with In-Sight Dance Company.



Shauna Sorensen

Shauna Sorensen earned her BFA in Dance Performance from The University at Buffalo.  In addition to Insight Dance Company she is a member of LiNK The Movement under the direction of Ginger Cox. With LiNK she has had the opportunity to perform at: SoNo Arts Festival, New Yorks 60×60 Dance, Elian Summer Dance Awards, Jazz Dance Choreography Enterprises, and Harkness Dance Center’s “Fridays at Noon”. A few other credits include Carnival with Synthesis Dance Project, Tangle: A Site Specific Dance, Music, and Art Show, and back up dancer for LIVID Rock Band and singer Barry Brandon.





Mishi Castroverde

Mishi is from Memphis, TN where she trained with former Bolshoi soloist Alexei Moskalenko.  While earning her B.A. in Psychology at Columbia University, Mishi found many outlets to continue dancing.  Mishi served as president of Columbia’s Orchesis Dance Group, while dancing in each of its biannual showcases.  She also participated in Barnard College’s Dance Department showcases, where she performed seven original works by prominent New York City choreographers, including Camille A. Brown, Lisa de Ribere, Robert LaFosse and Bill Young. Mishi is thrilled to be back in New York and dancing for In-Sight!

Collaborators

Enthuse Theatre

In-Sight Dance worked with Enthuse Theatre to bring Aristophanes’ The Clouds to Astoria Park in August. In-Sight Artistic Director Leeanne M. G-Bowley and In-Sight dancer Cody Potter co-choreographed this Enthuse Theatre production.  This was a free performance rehearsed and performed in Queens breathtaking Astoria Park!

The Secret Theatre

In-Sight has staged it’s productions at this Long Island City venue since 2010.  It is also home to The Queens Players, a Queens based theatre company.   The Secret Theatre is producing The 2011 Queens Fringe Festival and In-Sight is curating the Dance component of the festival which also includes Theatre, Comedy and Music.  Visit www.secrettheatre.com for more details.
